Depending on the age of your European automobile, the spark plugs need to be changed every 30,000 miles to every 100,000 miles. If you fail to have the plugs changed, the European vehicle may start to surge unexpectedly while you are driving. This is just one sign that your European automobile needs new spark plugs. Here are other signs that the spark plugs are bad.
It can be difficult to start the European automobile if one or more of the plugs are not firing. This means that the air and fuel in that cylinder does not ignite. Consequently, your European beauty will not be firing on all cylinders and, as such, it will struggle to start. In severe cases, the vehicle may not start at all or it may stall right away after it has ignited.
If the vehicle is not firing on all cylinders, it will act as if it has the hiccups. It will misfire while you are driving. You will hear the engine cut out and you will feel the European automobile stutter. Unfortunately, this misfiring can also make the vehicle stall unexpectedly. This is particularly true when you are sitting at an idle.
Speaking of sitting at an idle, if the engine is misfiring, you will notice that it is idling roughly. Unfortunately, this, too, can point to a problem with the spark plugs. As an aside, it can also point to a fuel-delivery problem, such as a clog in the fuel system or a malfunctioning fuel pump. If the plugs are the problem, a plug replacement will restore smooth idling.
Another problem that can occur when the spark plugs are bad is lagging acceleration. When you press down on your European automobile’s accelerator, the vehicle will be slow to respond. Again, if the air and fuel are not ignited in each cylinder, the European automobile will lose power. Unfortunately, it needs power to accelerate smoothly when you want to pick up speed.
Finally, all of the above is going to affect your fuel economy. This can be problematic if you are living on a tight budget. Gas prices are at an all-time high, and it can be very expensive to have to fill your European automobile’s tank more often than you normally do.
Do not worry. We are experts in European automobiles, and we can change your spark plugs if they have gone bad. This will restore your engine efficiency and fuel economy.
