Depending on the type of oil that you use, your European automobile’s oil needs to be changed every 3,000 miles to every 5,000 miles. The oil is the only thing that gets changed during an oil change service. We also replace the oil filter so that you have a clean one in the engine. When the oil gets dirty and the oil filter gets clogged, you will have one or more of the following problems.
You might start to notice performance issues with your European automobile’s engine. This is an indication that instead of cleaning the engine, the motor oil is dirtying it up. When the oil circulates through the engine, it removes dirt and grime from the moving parts. If the oil and oil filter are dirty, it will deposit dirt and grime on the moving parts.
Unfortunately, because the engine is performing poorly, it will use more fuel. There’s no way around this. Your engine must run efficiently in order for your European automobile to get the best fuel economy. You may not have realized this but oil changes can help you get better fuel mileage. As such, schedule an oil change with our shop if you are overdue.
Another thing that happens when you have dirty motor oil in the engine is the oil filter gets clogged. When this happens, you end up with a reduction of oil pressure circulating through the engine. This can damage the engine and cause it to overheat. As such, the engine control unit in your European automobile will turn on the oil light.
One thing that will increase is the hydrocarbons released in your European automobile’s exhaust. If you are in an area where you need to have the emissions tested once a year or every two years, your European beauty may fail the test if you don’t have the oil changed. The dirty oil makes the engine dirty and this increases the hydrocarbons.
Finally, if you hear grinding or scraping noises coming from the engine, pull your European automobile over and turn the engine off. These noises could be a sign that you don’t have any motor oil circulating through the engine. If you haven’t had your oil changed in a long time, the oil filter could be completely clogged.
We are here to help, so call our European auto service shop today to schedule an oil change.
